Poker Players Alliance

The Poker Players Alliance is an Interest group that aims to uphold the rights of online poker and of online poker players. The alliance was founded to represent poker players and to attempt to protect online poker through legislation, while reminding the population that online poker is very much a legal activity. Because of the PPAs efforts, there are more and more US Poker Rooms starting up every day.  

The PPA grew quickly after being formed in 2005. Over 600,000 people became members of the alliance in its first year, demonstrating commitment to online poker and voicing their protest against unfair legislation. Since its conception over one million members have joined the Alliance, encouraged by famous PPA board members such as Greg Raymer, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson.   

Their aim is to "establish favorable laws that provide poker players with a secure, safe and regulated place to play." Online poker is perfectly lawful but government legislation such as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have made it harder and harder for US money poker sites, with many poker sites no longer allowing US players to join. The PPA campaigns against this kind of legislation, terming it "egregious government intervention" and instead argues for laws which will provide poker players with a safe and regulated environment in which to play their game.
