Poker Flash
Online poker has exploded since Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 World Series of Poker. Since he qualified for that tournament through an online satellite, others have signed on to try their luck. Most poker rooms require its players to download a software client onto their computer. Unfortunately, most of these software clients do not work for Mac or Linux based computers. Additionally, poker players may have the urge to play on a computer that does not allow any downloads to occur. Luckily, there is a quick fix for this: Poker Flash.
Poker Flash is written in a language that is universal on every computer. Most players already have Adobe Flash installed on their computer making it easy to play a Poker Flash game. This puts an end to a lack of software for Mac and Linux players. It also puts an end to bad Mac or Linux ports that poker rooms offer their Mac customers. Additionally, since Poker Flash runs in-browser, players do not need to download anything and can play from any computer.
There are some limitations to Flash Poker, however. Most poker rooms do not allow players to play in tournaments in-browser. Also, there is usually a table limit of one or four in place at poker rooms that offer Poker Flash. Lastly, most filters are limited so game selection may be a little more difficult. Everything else usually remains pretty similar to the software client.
Mac and Linux players should definitely check out Poker Flash at their favorite poker room. Players that want to play from work, school, or any other computer that does not allow downloads should also check it out. It is a great alternative to the software client.
